Schmeichel moved to Nice

 LONDON: Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has joined Ligue 1 club Nice after a successful career at the English Premier League club.

 In his 11 years at The Foxes, the 35-year-old won the Premier League, FA Cup and Community Shield.

    The Leicester captain has also amassed 479 caps, the third most in the club's history. He was a mainstay in Leicester's success in winning the Premier League in 2015-16 and the inaugural FA Cup in 2021.

    The son of former Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel, the Dane joined Leicester from Leeds in 2011 and became a fan favourite. Leicester chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha praised Schmeichel's contribution, saying: "During his time with us, especially as captain and assistant captain, Kasper has always been a responsible player and led a team that is good.

“His influence and leadership on and off the pitch reflects his quality as a professional player, player and person.

"I know the Leicester City supporters also appreciate Kasper's contribution and join me in wishing him the best of luck in France with OGC Nice." - AFP
