The atmosphere at Old Trafford was tense not only in the middle of the pitch but also in the stands as Manchester United supporters fought amongst themselves.

While hopes were high for Erik ten Hag's start to the new season, United were stunned by Pascal Gross' first-half goals for Brighton, who have not lost on holy ground since 113 years ago. They bounced back in the second half after an own goal from The Seagulls' Alexis Mac Allister, but it wasn't even a point to start the contest.

The decision escalated the situation in the stands of the home audience and a fight broke out between their supporters. Before the game, Ten Hag challenged fans to become the 12th player in the team to beat Brighton.

“If we commit, I think the fans will love it and be excited to fight again. "The stadium is a place to fight and cooperate," Ten Hag said.
