Jota's new contract runs until 2027

JOTA unveiled in Liverpool.

London: Diogo Jota has signed a long-term deal with Liverpool that will keep him at Anfield until the summer of 2027.

The Portugal international has been handed a new five-year deal following his excellent form since his move from Wolves in 2020.

The 25-year-old scored 21 goals in all competitions for the Reds last season but will face stiff competition for places this season following the arrival of Darwin Nunez from Benfica.

Jota also helped Jurgen Klopp's side win the FA Cup and League Cup last season, but missed out on the English Premier League (EPL) trophy by just one point.

"I'm very proud, that's all I can say," Jota told Liverpoolfc.com after signing his new contract yesterday.

“I have gained ground since I came here two years ago and now the club have given me the confidence to sign a new long-term contract.

“So let's do it before the new season starts.

Jota, who has scored 34 goals in 85 games since joining Liverpool, has been ruled out of the pre-season tour with a hamstring injury and the forward is expected to miss Saturday's EPL opener against Fulham.
