LONDON: Thierry Henry has been voted the best player in the history of the English Premier League by football fans.

Betfair and YouGov surveyed 1,000 football fans ahead of the 30th edition of the English Premier League.

Arsenal legend Henry beat Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohamed Salah to claim the title, with the former Frenchman taking 15 per cent of the vote.

Henry scored 175 goals in 258 Premier League appearances and helped the Gunners win two league titles - including the 2003-04 season with The Invincibles.

United striker Ronaldo, who scored 102 goals in 226 games and won three Premier League titles with the Red Devils between 2006 and 2009, was second.

League top scorer Alan Shearer was third, while Eric Cantona and Steven Gerrard completed the top five.

Liverpool's explosive Mohamed Salah, who has scored 156 goals in 254 games for Jurgen Klopp's side, is in seventh place. Apart from Ronaldo and Salah, another active player is Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne, who is in eighth place. - AGENCIES
