New twist in Ronaldo saga as Utd star emerges; $83 million flop linked to shock PL swap: Rumor Mill

Cristiano Ronaldo could be heading for an ugly exit from Manchester United after the striker sensationally left Old Trafford in a pre-season friendly last weekend.

Ronaldo, playing in his first pre-season game after missing the tour of Thailand and Australia, left the stadium with 10 minutes to play after being subbed off at half-time.

The Portugal international was clearly frustrated with manager Erik ten Hag earlier in the game, while his agent Jorge Mendes continues to push for a move.

Chelsea striker Timo Werner, meanwhile, could complete a stunning move to their bitter London rivals as two Premier League clubs enter the race for his services.

Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva is also on the verge of a big move to the Spanish powerhouse, but the deal is dependent on the sale of another star. Here are the latest transfer rumors in the latest edition of the Rumor Mill!

RONALDO LEAVES OLD TRAFFORD

Ronaldo donned Manchester United's famous red shirt for the first time in 12 weeks during Monday's 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano (AEST).

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner played 45 minutes in his long-awaited return, later saying he was "glad to be back".

But the Hag manager was reportedly disappointed with the 37-year-old after he left Old Trafford before the final whistle.

British media outlet The Sun shared images of Ronaldo shrugging his shoulders and covering his face in frustration as his new manager tried to talk him down during a water break.

After being signed at half-time, Ronaldo left the stadium with 10 minutes left in the game. Photos show the football superstar walking past some if not angry fans who were waiting for him.

"It doesn't seem right to leave early when you're in the squad," a Manchester United insider told SunSport.

“It's different when you're standing in the stands and not involved.

“You would expect someone who played the game to be in the dressing room at the end listening to the manager's thoughts.

"He was also seen by many people and was not included in the applause of the fans after the final whistle.

Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes is hoping to secure another transfer for his disgruntled client. CHELSEA STRIKER COULD MOVE TO LONDON BLUE IN RED

Timo Werner could be in line for one of Chelsea's fiercest rivals this season, with the Blues reportedly willing to part ways with the Germany international this transfer window.

The 26-year-old, who joined Chelsea for $83 million (AEDT) in 2020, has failed to fire at the level expected of him when he signed for Stamford Bridge, scoring just 10 Premier League goals in 56 games.

But Werner could be given a lifeline to the Premier League with London rivals Arsenal keen to secure his services.

Mikel Arteta has already welcomed former Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus this transfer window as he continues to strengthen his attack.

Newcastle United are also interested in signing Werner on loan, but his huge salary is a potential problem in the deal. Sunhave also reported that European powers Juventus and Real Madrid are also interested in Werner.

SILVA ON THE VERGE OF A BARCA DEAL

Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva is close to a major deal with Barcelona

But Silva can only complete the move if Barcelona's Frenkie de Jong agrees to leave the club.

De Jong has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United during the transfer window, although he wants to stay at Camp Nou.

Barcelona manager Xavi has revealed that he does not know whether de Jong will stay at the club or not. "I don't know if he will stay here," said Xavi.

"I never sent Frenkie a message. There is still time and many things can still happen."

"The fact that he has played at centre-back in other games is not a sign that he will leave."

FREE COMPANY TO LIVERPOOL

Football insider Fabrizio Romano has shared some big transfer news for Liverpool fans as the Champions League winner confirmed his intention to stay at the club.

Striker Roberto Firmino has said he loves "this team, the city and the fans", amid speculation over his future with the Reds. "I love this team, the city and the fans," Firmino told TNT Brazil.

“I am here in Liverpool and I want to stay.

THE DEFENDER WAS MADE OF BLUES

Brighton left-back Marc Cucurella has been heavily linked with a move to English champions Manchester City, but a deal with Chelsea is more likely.
