Lou Holtz will never look right in anything but official Notre Dame clothing. He didn’t look right at South Carolina. He doesn’t look right in a suit on ESPN. And he certainly doesn’t look right in Texas colors on the Longhorn Network. Yet, here we are. Holtz spoke to the Texas football team yesterday as a favor to his former assistant and the current Longhorns coach, Charlie Strong.
Hotlz scribbled some words on the whiteboard, did a magic trick and explained that in order to be happy, you need to win a championship. It was both hilarious –
“There’s only seven musical notes! Look what… the rappers… and Beethoven did with those seven musical notes!”
And inspiring –
“Want to be happy for a day? Play golf.”
Between the speech and the magic trick, it’s the sharpest Holtz has looked in years. Texas’ next National Championship is definitely on the horizon now.
