Robert Allenby, the golfer who claimed he was robbed and beaten up last week, apparently lied about the entire ordeal. His story has been falling apart for a few days, and as more and more witnesses come forward, it sounds like Allenby got hammered a strip club, lost his friends and his bearings, and then this happened:
While I was trying to wave cabs down, he was nodding out, then he passed out, fell face first and slammed in a rock.
But back to the strip club, which reporters will be gleefully canvassing today:
he told a homeless man that he was depressed and had been drugged at a strip club where he went to get some “action.”
So we’ve gone from drugged, attacked, stuffed in the truck of a car and dumped a few miles away, to … lost his money at a strip club, passed out on a sidewalk for maybe two hours, and then, while staggering drunk in the streets and bragging about being a millionaire, he fell and hit his head on some rocks.
